Prices have started to inch up and they will continue. You can purchase some items to store safely in anticipation of future increases. The increases are due to natural and unnatural causes such as drought and ethanol production so our food sources are going to become less obtainable and less affordable in the near future. Check your grocery store ads and coupons and buy in bulk if you can and if you have proper storage containers and room for the items in your home. Best not to store in a garage or outside building because of temperature changes.
Some items that are healthy and easy to store ( dry storage) as well as affordable right now are:
dry beans
barley
rice
pasta
egg noodles
dry milk
canned meats - tuna, salmon, chicken, beef
canned soup
whole grain oats
flour & sugar - store in airtight containers
tea
some bottled water
